Magnifica Humanitas — Pope Leo XIV’s First Encyclical

Magnifica Humanitas — Pope Leo XIV’s First Encyclical

The Vatican has announced that Pope Leo XIV has completed his first encyclical, Magnifica Humanitas (“The Greatness of Humanity”), focused on the dignity of the human person in the age of artificial intelligence.

The document will be officially presented on May 25 at the Vatican in the presence of the Holy Father, together with Church leaders, theologians, and experts in technology and ethics.

The encyclical is being released during the 135th anniversary of Rerum Novarum, the historic social teaching document of Pope Leo XIII that defended workers and human dignity during the Industrial Revolution.

Today, Pope Leo XIV addresses new challenges brought by artificial intelligence and rapid technological development. The encyclical is expected to reflect on how technology can serve humanity while protecting truth, freedom, and the sacred dignity of every person created in the image of God.

Magnifica Humanitas is expected to become an important Catholic voice on faith, ethics, and human dignity in the digital age.
