St. Francis de Sales — Our Gentle Patron and Friend
St. Francis de Sales, Bishop and Doctor of the Church, is not only the patron of our parish, but a true spiritual friend and guide. Born in 1567, he lived in challenging and divided times, yet he chose a path of patience, kindness, and deep trust in God. As Bishop of Geneva, he touched countless hearts not through forceful words, but through gentle love, quiet perseverance, and genuine concern for every soul he met.
St. Francis de Sales believed that holiness is possible for everyone—young and old, families and singles, the busy and the tired. He encouraged people to find God in daily life, teaching that love, humility, and joy are the true signs of a faithful heart. His writings, especially Introduction to the Devout Life, continue to inspire generations with their warmth, simplicity, and practical wisdom. For this reason, the Church honors him as the patron saint of writers and communicators.
As our parish patron, St. Francis de Sales invites us to be a community marked by kindness, patience, and sincere care for one another. He gently reminds us that faith grows best where there is love, and that true strength is shown through compassion.
To celebrate and honor St. Francis de Sales, we warmly invite our entire parish family to a special celebration on January 25:
- Mass at 11:00 AM
- Parish Potluck following Mass
- Please bring a salad, main dish, or dessert
- Roasted pigs and beverages will be provided
Come and celebrate together in prayer, thanksgiving, and joyful fellowship. Let us gather as one parish family, inspired by the gentle heart of St. Francis de Sales, and share a meal, laughter, and time together. Everyone is most welcome!
